Our mission
Every fortnight, OGRA notifies a new petrol price in Pakistan. The notification arrives at midnight, in a single-page PDF, and immediately ripples through fuel costs for 240 million people. Yet the average driver in Karachi, Lahore or Quetta finds out about it from a friend's WhatsApp forward, or worse, at the pump when the meter clicks higher than expected.
We built PetrolRate.pk to close that gap. Within minutes of every OGRA notification, this site is updated with the new today petrol price in Pakistan, the new diesel rate, and a city-by-city breakdown so you can plan your fill-up, your commute or your freight bill before you spend a rupee.

Where our data comes from
We aggregate fuel prices from three primary public sources, all of which are themselves derived from official OGRA notifications:
- OGRA (Oil & Gas Regulatory Authority), the authoritative regulator. OGRA's notification PDF is the legal source of every retail fuel price in Pakistan.
- Pakistan State Oil (PSO), Pakistan's largest fuel distributor. PSO's retail price board reflects the OGRA notification in real time across all cities.
- PakWheels Petroleum Prices, a long-running consumer reference that historises every fortnightly notification.
- Shell Pakistan Station Board, for cross-verification of dealer-level pricing.
City-level prices on this site reflect the OGRA national notification plus the Inland Freight Equalisation Margin (IFEM) and typical dealer commissions. Pump-to-pump variation can be ±Rs. 1–3 per litre at the retail level.
Our editorial standards
We aim to be the most trustworthy reference for the today petrol price in Pakistan. That commitment shows up in five concrete ways:
- Source every number. Every price on this site can be traced back to a public OGRA, PSO or PakWheels page within the last fortnight.
- Timestamp every update. The "last updated" timestamp on the home page is the actual minute we pushed the new notification, not a static label.
- Correct mistakes openly. If we get a number wrong, we update it within the hour and add a correction note in the news section.
- Don't manufacture precision. Where a number is uncertain (e.g. CNG regional rates), we say so, we don't fabricate decimals.
- Stay independent. We are not affiliated with PSO, OGRA, Shell, Total, or any OMC. No fuel company pays us for placement on this site.

Who we are
PetrolRate.pk is built and maintained by a small editorial team based in Pakistan that includes a transport-sector journalist, an energy-policy researcher and a frontend developer. We launched the site after years of frustration with how scattered Pakistan's fuel-price information was, across PDFs, screenshot tweets, and TV crawls.
